Debugger Tips

Friday, October 29th, 2004

I almost never use traditional debugging tools, by habit I code small debug tools into the applications while I write them, and generally I’m just a hacker on the run, and I don’t have time to mess with bulky debuggers.
But since I just stumbled upon some articles about the subject, I thought this might be the time to try some of the latest debugger tricks.

PSP Pricing, Battery Life Announced

Wednesday, October 27th, 2004

zmcnulty writes “The day has finally come: Over at TechJapan, we’ve got a translation of a Japanese BB Watch article stating that Sony has announced the Playstation Portable will cost 20,790 yen (about $195 USD) and is to be released on December 12th.
Also, the battery life is quoted as being 4 to 6 hours. Not exactly what I’d call fantastic, but at this price, looks like Nintendo is in for some serious competition. Free your doubts about software too, as Sony has announced 21 titles will be released in December as well. Here’s the official Japanese PDF press release regarding the PSP’s release.”

SGI & NASA Build World’s Fastest Supercomputer

Wednesday, October 27th, 2004

GarethSwan writes “SGI and NASA have just rolled-out the new world number one fastest supercomputer.
Its performance test (LINPACK) result of 42.7 teraflops easily outclasses the previous mark set by Japan’s Earth Simulator of 35.86 teraflops AND that set by IBM’s new BlueGene/L experiment of 36.01 teraflops. What’s even more awesome is that each of the 20 512-processor systems run a single Linux image, AND Columbia was installed in only 15 weeks. Imagine having your own 20-machine cluster?”
