Matt Damon as Captain Kirk?
What is going on!!? First they cancel Enterprise, and now this shit!!? I have no hard feelings toward Matt, but this is just lame. Please let them drop this movie completely… Also they should NOT make a prequel movie when they just sacked Enterprise, which was a prequel series! Oh my how I look forward to Battlestar Galactica season starts again.. Screw trek for the moment..
“Our friends at IMDB.com are reporting that Matt Damon has been cast to play a young James T. Kirk in the new Star Trek Movie directed by J.J. Abrams. Is this the end of the Star Trek series we fans know and love, or the beginning of something bigger and better for the series?”

Well, he’s a better actor than some…but I can see how this feels a lot like a publicity stunt to attract a larger crowd, rather than choosing him because he would do a good job.

Emma, I think Matt Damon just hasn’t been in anything in a long time and will take anything. I do agree that maybe the Trek people just want a big name to attract more than just Trekkies.

I reckon that of all the actors I can think of, Matt Damon isn’t a bad choice. I thought he was brilliant in the Bourne Identity and is a bit underrated by some as they don’t see his good work as they get preoccupied with the occasional bomber he has released. I think he looks the part too. Have to say I do have some reservations as it just won’t be the same without Shatner.
